Default Brake Light coming on

When I make hard turns or brake a little hard, the brake light on the cluster comes on as if the handbrake is up. does it mean I need to change the pads? or the sensor on the handbrake went bad?

My MR2 did that to me before i sold it. It was the E-brake cable that went bad. It was a common MR2 problem, they freeze up during the winter is u have the e-brake up. Replaced the cable and fixed the problem. This is the first time i've heard of this on an S2K. Maybe it's the same problem. I'm just guessing from experience. Anyone else can shim in on this. Check your e-brake cable. When did u last change your brake pads?

If you haven't topped up your brake fluid, it'll be too low when you get to the end of the life of your pads, causing the light to come on. No real problem; just put new pads in!

The brake light came on in my 2002 a couple of weeks ago. The brake fluid was at the proper level. My issue was with the float in the master cylinder. It had a hole which allowed fluid to enter and caused it to sink enough to trip the brake light.

I have the same problem. I'm about to bleed the brakes and see if that solves it, but if not I'll change the pads and see if that helps.

Anyone come up with a solution to this yet? I keep fiddling with the float in the reservoir so I'm thinking that it might be causing it. The thing is the BRAKE light is supposed to be on the e-brake... What the heck is going on with this thing?
