Default VSA & Brake Light Issue

I month or so back i was having the VSA/brake light issue. The VSA light would stay on and the brake light would come and go depending on my driving. not knowing what the issue was i searched s2ki for the issue and i found the fix (low brake fluid). i simply added brake fluid which was low and problem solved. Concerned that it was low that fast on a new car ('07 25k miles w/ not driven somewhat nicely as far as brakes are concerned - no tracking or anything like that)

this week i found that the low brake fluid was not the root cause. the root cause was the brake pads. here's what happens. as the brake pads wear the brake fluid level drops. when the pads are completely worn its enough to drop the fluid to the point you will trip the low brake fluid sensor for certain "somewhat nicely" driving conditions. when the car was brand new my brake level was half way between the min/max levels.

so if this happens to you (VSA/brake light issue) - check the brake pads first. if you decide to squeeze a few more miles out of your pads - don't re-fill to the max level. add just enough to take care of the low brake sensor. because if you top off like i did the reservoir will overflow when you change your brake pads
