Brake Noise
My left rear brake started making noise about 2-3 days ago, so yesterday I changed both rear brakes with oem pads. Today it is still making noise. Any suggestions or ideas?
Thanks
Thanks
The noise is a grinding, screeching noise which is not heard when I first start driving but gets louder later in the ride as the car gats hotter. Eventually the noise is almost always there. When stopping it gets really loud, especially last few seconds before i come to a complete stop.
What did the pads look like when you took them off?
What did the rotors look like?
Did you resurface the rotor? You should resurface the rotor when you install new pads and make sure to use the shim grease to silence them.
If you have constant noise, sounds like you've got caliper issues. Check your calipers and brake fluid for a change of fluid.

You might also have bent the dust shield. Check to see if the dust shield is rubbing on the rotor. I did that once, and it made a noise similar to what you describe.
Check to make sure the caliper flange bolts are tight.
BTW, I totally disagree with the advice that "you should resurface the rotor" whenever you change pads. In fact, except in very rare circumstances, I think you should never resurface the rotor.

I have a similar issue with the right rear corner on my 03 S2000.
The sound is like tool chatter with a plunk. It is RPM dependent.
Sound is audible over 15 degrees of the rotation of the rear wheel.
Given that I can
