Default Brake noise

Well to start off I was going to school this morning and I started to hear this noise from the rear of the car and it sounds like the brakes are bad, sounds sorta like the brakes are rubbing metal to metal with the rotor, well I just replaced the brakes a few months ago and I know they are not bad, could this be coming from the diff?

Does it only happen while braking? What type of brake pads did you install? Does the noise change while turning? Are you sure that a rock didnt work its way behind the backing plate of the rotor since that can just suddenly happen.

Is it there all the time. I have seen/ heard the front joint of the drive shaft become noisy. Sometimes intermittenly though. It had excessive play when inspected from under. It might be best to see if you can get the car on a rack and drive it with the car in the air to better inspect where the noise is coming from.

could be your bearings.

i had something similar where it sounded like there was a rock in the tire and it made a ticking noise. it would be very intermittent and i'd only hear it at low speeds under load (accelerating). ended up being the rear bearings and after having them replaced, the problem went away.

good luck!

I jacked the car up and moved the drive shaft it had play but i could turn the drive shaft 1/2 inch from left to right, ive also heard noises on and off but they wasnt very blatant it only sounded like a clicking noise everytime i gave it gas and left off and it came from the rear but it would go away and then come back ever now and then so i never thought anything of it till now it loud and continuous
