Default Brake warning light on after break job...

Hey guys,

I had the front pads and rotors done on my 01 S2000 today. They also drained and replaced the fluid. Now the brake warning light in the dash is on and won't go out. Any suggestions as to what might cause this?

You paid someone else to do the work. Take it back to them. Diagnosis is their problem, not yours.

Probably a much bigger hassle to take it back to the shop than to just unstick the float. But YMMV.

Obviously if the fluid really is low, then the shop needs to fix the problem.

If the fluid was low I would just fix it myself rather than risking brake failure on the way to the shop. Just check the fluid level to make sure it is up, if so the float is stuck. Good luck!

I'm assuming that if he had a shop do it, then he doesn't have any brake fluid at home. But most likely the problem is just a stuck float.

Thanks for the replies. This is a case of a sticking float. The master cyl is full but even after I pull the float back up to the top it eventually sinks. I'm thinking I should just unplug the sense and call it a day at this point.

It shouldn't do that. A sticking float is one thing, a sinking float is something else. If it wasn't doing this before you had the service done, I recommend taking it in to the people who did it and saying "make this good for me".
