Default Brakes feel different after change/upgrade

so today i replaced my perfectly good oem (keeping them as spares) brake pads for some Axxis Ultimate Ceramic Pads. also replaced the brake fluid with Super Blue.

well i flushed from front left to front right to rear right to rear left.

had my friend pump until each caliper was shooting out blue fluid. did not see any air bubbles either.

well the brakes seem to bite well. but the brake travel seemed to have increased.

i thought they were cold and needed to be broken in so i did the 40-10mph brake in period. and did some driving around and semi hard braking.

well i got in my friends ap1 stock. and the brake pedal feels stiffer even at idle.

do i got to bleed the damn system again?

or is that normal for a while?

Clutch travel can not possibly be affected by this. Unlike some other cars with hydraulic clutches, the clutch system is completely separate from the brake system. Pure placebo effect.

As for brake pedal, it is supposed to be "stiff". You may have gotten used to the feeling of the brake pedal with some air in the lines, but that's not what you want.

sorry sorry meant brake travel not clutch lol

hmmm so is it normal?

or do i gotta bleed again =( i mean i didnt see any air bubbles when blue fluid came out.

and once blue came out i flushed like 2 more times out just to make sure.

my guess and i hope im right is the brake pads are too new so they dont bite as hard right now.

Wait, "brake pedal travel is increased" but the pedal is "more stiff"?

You really need to explain what you are talking about better. That makes no sense to me.

Traditional description of air in the brake lines is a "mushy" feel to the brakes.

Different pads do feel different. That might or might not be the source of your confusion. If the problem is just that you need to push harder to getthe car stopped, it's probably just the pads.

Unlikely this will change, though.

I have to ask why you did this ... I would not normally recommend Axxis Ultimates on an S2000. For street use there really aren't any pads I would recommend over the OEMs. And for track use the Axxis Ultimate pads aren't nearly high temp enough anyway.

sorry if im confusing haha.

basically im concerned that the pedal doesnt feel as stiff as it did. and the travel isnt as short as it was. (travel before you feel the pedal stiffen up)

i honestly dont think theres any air in the system as im sure i didnt see bubbles while flushing.

guess ill give it a day or two. do some hard braking to see if theres a difference tomrrow.

ty for the help

My guess is it's the pads you are feeling. They will have a different friction v. pressure curve compared to stock. No way to know for sure over the web, though. Good luck.

All else fails, you can just bleed again and see if it changes.

[edit: OH! I see you mean your friend's pedal felt stiffer than yours. I misread. I guess I would try bleeding again, just to see if it gets better.]

You might want to try Billman's "gravity bleed" method.

I was never happy with the results of a pedal-pushing bleed, but I now have a pressure bleeder and that works great.

explain in detail how you are bleeding the brake system, you are probably not bleeding it properly and letting air get into the lines

started with front driver, then front passenger, then rear passenger, then rear driver.

had my friend push the brakes once i opened the bleed nipple on the caliper. then i closed the nipple and had him push the brake back up.

repeated that until i saw blue fluid come out about 3 times to make sure.

then i moved on to the next wheel.

i also made sure there was always fluid in the system.

im starting to get used to it. and it does brake very well once the pedal gets stiff.

i also heard that it is a common characteristic of the super blue to make the brake feel a bit softer than oem honda fluid.
