Break In Advice
I just purchased my new s-2000 last week. I got too excited and drove the car hard a few times pushing over 6000 rpms twice to red line.Ive also downshifted a few times and accelerated very quickly. Im at 300 miles now and just read that for 600 mile breakin dont drive it like that. Ill cool it now for the next 300 miles.Could I have damaged my engine? Any advice about breakin experience welcomed.Im very concerned now and love my car!
I wouldnt' worry too much about it, some people say red line it from day one. Others wait until 1500 miles!
I'd stick with what honda recommends, at least if your into longevity.
I doubt that anything we do for the first x miles really matters, It's in hondas intrest to make sure everything is all set from the factory. Think of all the people who just kill a car from day one.
Good luck

There is a lot of conflicting info on break-in. I believe that 90% of the break-in happens in the first 20 miles, but that it doesn't really reach 100% until you've got thousands of miles on it.
I don't think you have done any damage, but you should probably keep it below 6K RPMs for the next 300 miles. You should also consider changing your oil filter (not the oil). That is something I wish I had done during break-in. It may also be a good idea to change your transmission and differential fluids soon, since they don't have filters.
