Breaking in new block
As I mentioned on my other post that I am getting a new short block for my car and with the rest of my engine has around 48k. Do I really need to break the engine in? I am planing to use cheap Chevron 10w-30 for the first 50-100 miles then replaced it with another cheap Chevron 10w-30 for about 1200 miles or so then switch to Syntec synthetic oil.
My plan is to run the car easy for the first 50-100 miles then just gradually increase my rpm and throttle position. My question are - do I need to keep it below 5500 rpm during that time. Or can I gradually bringing the rpm and throttle position up and eventually hitting full throttle and redline after putting on 200-300 miles?

Better to be safe then sorry.... Take it easy and verify your fluids and compresion at specific intervals in during your break in. This way if you do have a problem you may have time to be able to do something about it.
You would break in a rebuilt engine like you would the engine when it was new in the car. Why would it be much different (to be on the safe side)? And why would you use "cheap" oil (not that I think Chevron is good or bad)?
