Default broken motor mount?

hi everyone,

i was changing the oil and noticed that all around the motor mount on the sub-frame on the pass side (USDM Car) that there was evidence that a fluid of some sort has been on the sub-frame for some time. there was no fluid present but that nasty "dark" stain that we all know.

i was under the impression that our motor mounts where fluid filled. i did question if this was from the oil changes being sloppy from the previous owner but there was evidence on both the fore and aft side of the mount leading me to believe that its not oil from changes being sloppy.

is busted mounts a common issue and is this a symptom of a blown mount?

My passenger motor mount broke and I did a DIY thread. Um I don't remember there being any fluid. Well it broke for a while but I don't know they are fluid filled.

there have been reports of them leaking and I always under the impression they were fluid filled and the fluid is a thicker oil or gel like substance. I'm not totally sure but it I think it was in the orange colour for the fluid ?

That is correct. Orange. There should be evidence of the torn rubber if you look with a flashlight.

it wasnt orange. it was actually just black, like when you spill a fluid and it attracts all the dirt. thats what it looked like, the giant "darker" area.

i didnt see any tears, but is it only the lower portion thats fluid filled?

also is there any alternative to this other than wicked hard urethane mounts?
