Default Broken Mugen Header!

Has anyone had their headers break in two? I have heard of some bracket failures, but never the header itself failing.

While I was out driving the dragon today, my Mugen header (1.5 yrs. old) snappped into two pieces. The break occured at weld between the two intermediate pipes and the main pipe that extends to the catalytic converter.

Since the break occurred before the primary O2 sensor the engine would do little more than idle. This left the car stranded an hour away from home. I will try to post more pics when I get under the car today.

It's rare, but I've heard about it from some people in Japan.

Have you contacted King? assuming that's where you got the headers from.

Good luck.

I have only had a problem with the heat shield welds but King responded immediately and sent a new header. I sent them an Email with a picture.

I bought the header through a group buy that R&D motorsports had about a year and a half ago. R&D motorsports work with King on all their Mugen parts.

The invoice is from King, and was shipped from King to me.

I am going to send the pictures to King & R&D tomorrow.
