They denied my claim today!! I can't believe this. After my car is completly torn down and the retainers being removed. And NOW IT"S TWO VALVES. WHAT THE HELL. The longer I leave it there the more damage gets done. Aren't the tips of the valves visible when the retainers are on? I saw them myself, they didn't look broken to me. So now my car is stuck there. This is so messed up. I don't even have the option to take my car somewhere else now. and how can they deny warranty coverage after they already approved it and started working on it?

Yikes! I don't understand how they can deny coverage if they've already agreed to do it. I think you should call the district service manager and have a polite but firm discussion.

I've called both American Honda and my dealership. American Honda says they do not give out this information and that I would have to ask through the dealership. I called the dealership and the service manager Tim Duran told me to contact American Honda. I'm honestly getting tired of this. My Lawyer whose a friend of the family is out of town on vacation. Should I continue on my own or wait until he arrives? Either way if it drags on until he arrives I'll have his help.

Did you get anything in writing saying they had approved the coverage?

Nope, but they haven't denied that they did. Do you usually get it in writing thats it's approved? I called Honda Care to confirm it was covered after hearing from the dealership and they said it was. I didn't think I would need it in writing. I've been getting very shady service from the dealership this whole time. They never call me, I have to call them and all of the information I get from is always slightly differant than that of Honda Care. Like when they told me friday morning that an adjuster was going to to come check on the car and they would get back to me when he was there. I called Honda Care and they told me the adjuster had already been there and submitted the report.

I have no idea. But it might make a difference to the lawyer.

"Shady service" from a dealership service department?! Perish the thought! ... Sorry, but damn few dealership service departments do anything but "shady service" except for the absolutely routine stuff.

Here's what I would do if I was you..

Innocent until proven guilty. Tell them to prove it to you that it was abused, and when they say "Look the tires are worn and it looks liked it's been raced". Tell them prove it.

Then I would say this "I paid for a sport car, and your telling me that it's my fault for driving it fast once in a while?" Go tell that to a porcshe or ferrari owner and see what response you will get.

Technically there could be other reasons why the retainers broke:

1) A lemon retainer from factory?
2) poor Q&A from factory

I would talk to the district manager asap.

If you do need to replace the retainers... I would replace them all.. I think it's around $30 a pop. I would do it for peace of mind.

Good Luck and give the District manager hell for the poor treatment of an extremely loyal (for now) honda owner. They rather spend a few hundred then have a bad rep.

No one is willing to give me the opportunity to talk to the district service manager. I'm just going to keep calling and talking to everyone I can at Honda USA, Honda Care, and wherever else until I get the one honest person there that is willing to help me out with this.

I just got 16 retainers and 32 keepers (parts only) for under 100 bucks...not too bad.

It looks like thay are going to want you to pay up for the teardown, even if you refuse them the job.

Honda...if you're reading this, you suck. Lots of people are not happy.
