Default Broken Shifter Housing

I decided to regrease my shift lever per the instructions posted on the forum. Everything went great until I came time to tightening down the 3 10mm bolts. I tightened the first one way to hard and actually ripped the head of the bolt. During the process of drilling the bolt remains out and trying to tap a new hole, I have just decided to replace that part. Now the question is do i unbolt the 4 bolts from the top and remove the aluminum hosuing piece through the top, or do I have to remove it from under the car. I've been under the car and I see where it is. I'm just not sure how to go about its removal, and replacement.

I don't know the answer to your question, but here are some pictures of a transmission out of the car. They may help

I'm pretty confident you can remove the four boot bolts from underneath, lower the rear of the trans, then remove the 4 housing bolts, and remove the damaged part.

Unplug the cam sensors on the valve cover before lowering the rear of the trans.

Good golly, broke the head of the bolt? Valuable lesson here guys, get a Honda Service Manual and torque wrench. Oh yeah, and cut back on the Red Bull.

Hope your fix goes OK.

I think i might be able to remove the housing piece without lower the trans. I'm hoping to unbolt the 4 bolts from the retainer piece, unbolt the 4 bolts from the housing piece from above, then from underneath slide out the housing piece. Then in reverse order put it back together. By only having two of the three bolts in use right now, am I going to have the shift lever come loose? It feels fine, but I would sleep better if it was back to normal.
