^ Yeah, I have a feeling you are right and he just misnamed it. Ah, so the whole propeller shaft has to be replaced, not just the CV joints. Learning new stuff here.
i think a driveshaft shop could repair it, but honda only sells the prop shaft as one unit with the cv axles already installed, youc an't buy the cv joints separately from honda.

Good to know they are taking care of you. Also good you caught it before it completely broke free. It would have really given you a good scare had the shaft hit the ground while you were moving at a good clip. (Seen "Mythbusters"? )

Believe me, that crossed my mind. I was very lucky. Drove for all those hours through the mountains only to develop the problem near my destination and while the car was still drivable. I don't want to think what would have happened if I had lost it going around one of those curves.

It has been a few days since I was under there, but don't we have a safety loop to catch the shaft from making ground contact?

You are correct. We do indeed. I just thought the "Mythbusters" thing (related to "American Graffitti") was kinda scary.

That was a pretty good episode of 'Mythbusters' but they sure had to try really hard to FINALLY get that driveshaft to jam in that pothole. Not too likely with ANY car in everyday driving, even without a safety strap.

it won't hit the ground. the V shaped safety hanger in the middle of the propshaft will keep it from hitting the ground.
