I will be installing BC Coilovers in the near future. With all the discussion about preloading on the JICs, I am concerned that the BCs will have the same issue. For those with BCs, what preloading did you use for your initial set up?
Any advice on this would greatly be appreciated.

 

How much damper travel do the BCs have? If there is 3" or more, you won't need to preload them at all with 10K springs.

 

The 10K springs will probably be compressed about 1.6 inches from the weight of the car (700 lbs * 1.3 / 550 lbs/in). So you can calculate the necessary preload with this formula:

Preload = 1.6 inches - ( Total Damper Stroke / 2 )

Thanks for the formula Gernby -- I don't have the BCs yet, but am expecting them shortly. I will use your formula as the starting point for the install.
