can you change the banjo bolts with the motor in the car? maybe from the oil pan being dropped?
There are 4 banjo bolts in the block 1 for each cylinder FYI
Swap it for a 2.2 and get the 9k + a lil more torque then sell what you can before it gets worse. at least thats what id do.
You could always try an easy dry vs wet compression test...
first check each cylinder, then go back and add about 1 tea spoon of oil in each cylinder. If your values significantly increase after adding the oil, it might point to the piston rings and you would know which cylinder is most affected if they are not evenly wearing.
Per the Helms manual
Pressure Check at 250rpm with wide open throttle
Nominal = 228psi
Minimum = 135psi
Maxium Variation (between any two cylinders) = 28psi

After they did a valve adjustment, did they replace the valve cover bolt seals? They could be leaking, into the spark plug wells, making them look ugly...
As mentioned, PCV could be stuck closed, making blowby pressure oil into who knows where, maybe the front breather hose, then into the intake... Take at look there, too.
Then you might check the camshaft idler gear bolt for leaks, also the VTEC solenoid.
There is a guy with a blown motor who didn't know his VTEC solenoid was leaking oil, didn't keep the level up in a timely manner, and kaboom... spun a bearing, I think.

My 03 goes through 1qt every 1200 miles or so, since it reached 55,000 miles.
I am still trying to figure out where the problem is, since compression and leakdown are normal.

I'm just right about there as well... I use Amsoil.
