Wow...this thread got a bit confusing...

OK...did you check the slider pins on the brake caliper? They may need greasing.

i would say they are. i believe i've read about the ebrake cable locking up. also, sticky calipers are common on our car and all you need is a caliper rebuild in that case. your diff and axles have nothing to do with one rear caliper.

 

Yeah...I think they are too.

Before you even invest in a rebuilt caliper, grease the slider pins with some good high temp lithium grease. Had a local member have the same problem, he bought the rebuilt caliper and was still having the same problem...he greased the pins and all was good. Coulda saved the $ for the rebuilt caliper.

 

yeah, a buddy of mine said if i just took it apart, sanded the brake pad, and greased the slider pins, i'd probably be fine, and wouldn't even need a new caliper

and the dealer wanted me to replace the driveshafts . . . which were replaced less than a month ago . . .

and the dealer said I needed a new diff, so I took the car home, parked in first, left the e-brake off, jacked up one side of the car, left the other on the ground, tried spinning the rear wheel . . . could barely move it, so my diff is also fine.

 

a caliper is more complex then just the slider pins.

its common for the piston to lock up when it gets hot (stop and go around town)

if whoever did your rear brakes last used the right grease, the sliders wouldnt be frozen.
