Default Buying a new MAP sensor for a AP1

I have 2002 AP1 and the engine has the notorious rough idle that occurs during stop and go traffic or when shifting from R to 1st gear and back, etc. I know its because the ECU is "learning" but it annoys the hell out of me. I tried doing the MAP sensor "whack" and fiddling with the connector but it hasnt gone away.

I read some where that there is a newer MAP sensor which eliminates the issues. Is this true? and would it be the same MAP sensor which comes on all newer MY s2000's ?

I think the newer MAP sensor is just the same sensor with a little zip tie to keep it snug.

yep, same flawed sensor.

If the whack isn't working it may be time for a new MAP sensor.

Is the oil level OK? The S2000 can idle rough with low oil.

i don't want to say search, but yeah...search. not trying to be an arse, but the faq has nice picture and you'll like it with images

it's just a metal part bolt onto the driverside of the motor, you can take it out in less than 15 minture, a can of throttle body/intake manifold cleaner(5-6buck) and an old toothbrush will do it.

make sure you don't kill the rubber gasket by dipping it into the throtte body cleaner.

I thought I was having the MAP sensor problem. Bought a new one. Same problem. The throttle body and injectors were clogged, causing the problem.

Had the local lube place do the 15 min cleaning (~$60) and haven't had a problem since.
