LineS2k has this noise too. He has an MY05 with about 40k miles,. We're trying to find out what that is too.

Does it still stay cold? just makes an intermittent howl correct?

anyone have this problem?

Mine recently began making a similar noise. Still cold, but it seems to be drawing more power from the engine as well.
I'm going to get it serviced next week. I have about 45k on my car, and the compressor oil in the sealed system may be to blame.

Exactly, A/C stays hold, howl comes in once in a while but doesn't stay on. Pls post solution/cause if anyone hears anything. Thanks in adv.

Mine does this too! The first time I heard it I thought it was a siren it was such a loud, pronounced whine.

One thing I've noticed with mine is that even under a steady load, cruising down the interstate at a steady speed, the temperature of the air varies greatly from somewhat warm and slightly humid to ice cold. It cycles back and forth between the two extremes, though the temperature inside stays comfortable. I've also seen humidity blowing out of the vents when it cycles to cold.

Finally, there is a pronounced vibration when the compressor cycles on when idling.

Honda blew it off as completely normal. I am thinking of taking it back again before the 1 year 12,000 mile CPO warranty runs out.

I had the loud whine noise as well 2 years ago. I replaced my AC clutch myself and the noise is gone. It happened because i drove into some deep water.

I was about to say its probably the a/c clutch but milkbubble beat me to it. Usually if you lean over the compressor when its on you can smell it too.
