Default A/C condenser replacement questions

I had a rock put a hole in my ac condenser and needing to buy a new one. Found on honda parts website for around $300 but they make after market one for around $80-$100. Anyone use an aftermarket ac compressor, i cant seem to find any reviews on them.

if you know of any good brands besides OEM lmk!

thanks,
Jason

I know I'm not answering the question here but did you think about buying a used OEM one? They sell frequently for 60-80$

Do not buy an aftermarket one. You will pay for it in the long run. The only time ac compressors failed for me, twice, were aftermarket ones. OEM is good quality and its a hassle to replace and recharge especially since you should replace the drier too.

OEM stuff on this car really does do better than off brands generally speaking, lots of threads on just that. Billman is a big advocate of OEM.

If your looking for an ac compressor, denso makes compressors, I have heard several people say good things about them. They sell them at autozone, I think it's a special order though.

Keihin makes the compressor for our car. Truthfully, as long as the installation is done properly, AC work is cake. My experience has been that used OEM is as good as any new after market compressor. The reason they fail is because no one bothers to change the drier every 4 years, that little canister in front of the condenser is the ONLY thing keeping moisture out of the system. It's a $24 part, and if you plan to keep your A/C you should recover the system replace the dryer and recharge the system just as scheduled maintenance. It's not like you have to do it all the time, just once every 4 years will do just fine.
