Default A/C shutoff at VTech

I was wondering if anybody has designed a device that would disengage the A/C compressor when the motor Vtechs. I would like this for two reasons:
1. It would prevent the compressor from spinning at very high speeds which can't be good for it.
2. It would give better power when you want it (in VTech)without the drain of A/C.

I searched around but could not find any mention of what I am looking for.
Thanks.

I seem to recall being told that the compressor disengages at VTEC already?

yea, i remember the same thing yu888. can't remember the subject. I think it was greg racing someone, beating them, and then realizing that his A/C was on at the time... and then the subject came up. but AFAIK, the A/C disengages at WOT.

The stock A/C compressor kicks off during full throttle applications. We confirmed this on the dyno when I accidently left the A/C on (we were trying to get the car warmed up quicker). There was no peak power differential from the A/C on to off runs.

Another way to confirm this is go out on a hot day with the A/C on. Get on the freeway at 50 mph and put the pedal down as long as you dare. You'll notice the air from the vents start to warm up.
