It was a good 75-100ft of standing water. And I have the Neuspeed springs, so the bottom of the car is about 1.5" off the ground, and the filter sits only slightly more than that. I know for a fact there had to be water covering at least half of the filter.

Plus, Speed wouldn't matter since my front brake duct is cut out.

If your filter was only half submerged in water, then you really had no chance of hydrolock. It's like trying to drink through a straw that does not have its tip completely submerged in the drink.

BTW, how can you drive a car on the street, if you only have 1.5" ground clearance?

What do you mean how can I drive it? Very carefully?

So you're saying you have to have the filter completely covered before you can get hydrolock?

If thats the case, then I think that the chances of hydrolock are VERY slim.

Thats exactly what Schatten was eluding to. Chances are very slim. Not only that, the filter is placed behind the bumber in a place not directly exposed to the outside, even with the brake duct open.

Up until now, i have only heard of one S2k having any issues with a CAI and that was on someones car in Hawaii. His car is on the floor (Tein coil overs at the lowest possible setting), AND it has a C-West front bumper which leaves the intake exposed. From what i remember, he was parked by a high curb during a downpoor where water levels almost reached the headlights.

Actually, if it was the guy from a few months ago, I think he started it in the morning after the rain. I think the water must have started to seep through filter or something.

I think the best plan is to do a J-turn just before you hit the standing water so you go through it sideways. Either that or park the S2000 and hitch a ride with an SUV.

No problems here w/the MG Racing CAI. I've had it for over a year w/no probs & (Now) it's my daily driver. I've driven in downpouring rain & what not that Dallas has to offer, also.

So would anyone here recommend the bypass valve, or not?
