As usual xviper is correct. And, this sucks.

If the car was on a lift (lifts are nearly level), it would be very difficult to get more than 0.8 qts of fluid in the differential because the fill hole and overflow hole are the same. Like mentioned above, unless the car was tilted to the side it's not possible to put a quart into the pumpkin, and certainly NOT more than that.

If it were my car, I'd take it home, read the helpful DIY threads in this forum, and replace ALL of the fluids myself - if for no other reason than to be sure that everything is correct. The fact that they misquoted the amount of transmission fluid and have given suspicious information about the differential fluid change would make me inclined to take matters into my own hands. I would then send a nicely worded letter to the service department with a copy to the owner of the dealership politely asking for a refund (or at least to reimburse you for the new fluid costs). If you really want to be thorough, send samples of the differential fluid to an oil analysis lab like Blackstone. If the wrong fluid was added, the analysis may provide the data you need to prove your point.

they shredded the first invoice but I know for a fact that it had either 80w or 90w (almost positive it said 90w) Did not say 80w90 GL-5 anyone know what the numbers are for the vtm-4 and the dual pump fluid for the crv?

plan of action, going to go down there tommorow morning and going to walk into the parts dept and ask for s2000 differential fluid. Going to buy it even if it is the wrong stuff and walk into the service managers office with it. If they say they dont carry it then ill know even better that i have the wrong fluid in my car. If they give me the right stuff (gl-5) ill be happy and still go into the managers office to find out how they managed to charge me for three qts of tranny fluid and managed to get more than a quart in my car. The car i believe was level even though i couldnt see the service bay i was in. All other cars were on lifts about 6-7 feet in the air.

Thanks again for all the ammo viper. If i find out it has the wrong fluid should I demand for them to replace the diff with the ammo you have given me? I have a daily driver (Toyota Tacoma) driving that down there tommorow and can drive that until the diff is replaced if it comes down to it.

Ok, deep breaths. There MAY (I stress MAY) be a rational explanation. Most Honda standards take 2.5L of tranny oil. So most parts departments just charge for 3 litres regardless of how much went in. Every dealer I've worked for has just taken it from a bulk pump so there's no measurement taken.

Then again, they may be hacks who screwed up. Please do keep us posted!

Well, I'm not in your shoes so I really can't tell you what you should or should not do. That's between you, your conscience and maybe your lawyer. It might be difficult to expect a new diff at this time since we don't know how much of what stuff they put in there and whether or not that was enough to do damage. At the very least get as much documentation as you can with the appropriate letters to the dealer service manager and owner so that "if" your diff goes south later, you may have some recourse. If they don't do anything about now, you better dump that fluid soon and hope for the best. It's not necessarily how many miles you drive. It's also how long the parts soak in the fluid.
ps. It would be a good idea to bookmark all that you have read here in preparation to print it all out.

ive printed it all out viper and will be going down there tommorow morning, atleast on the bright side i dont have 100% bad fluid if it is the wrong fluid. If he managed to get a quart of mobil 1 in there I dont imagine much else got in. Thanks for the help guys keep you all posted. Sorry for the high number of posts, just got my car in march and love it to death.
