Thumbs down Cam Cover Problem

Hey,

I recently got my cover bead blasted and then powdercoated, as i removed the packaging there were some remnants of the blasting process in the form of small abrasive beads... As I shook the cover more started to come out of the baffle section of the cover...

Now I feel I have 98% of the bits out but wouldn't mind a further way of ensuring it is CLEAN! Would pressurized air help? Or would a bath in oil be best then blow it all out with a pressurized air line again?? I was aprehensive though of using any high pressure water source to clean just incase it contaminates anything in the future... I kind of wanted to use methods that the cam cover would only see natural things e.g. air and oil...

Please Help as I want to ENSURE that it's 99.99% spotlessly clean before I install it...

Cheers,

Nick

Blow it out. There are bolts to remove my baffle.

probably secondary baffle attached to the removable primary baffle.

I can't believe you still hadn't tried it yet.

I was going to try it but thought that it was attached so would just be pointless... found myself an air supply and blew the crap out of it!! SOO much more stuff came out... then added some oil and swished it around then blew it again to make sure everything that stuck to the oil got removed... it is now on the engine and will get pics up tooo

I would have flushed it out with a water hose. Oil is sticky.

Its safe to flush with water and degreaser. You need the volume of water to flush any debris out.

To dry it, flush with hot water and blow off with air.

Bead blasting material isn't too good for your washer drain, and engine oil doesn't go in the sewer. Just saying.
