Can Mobile 1 really detract from VTEC?

I switched over to Mobil 1 10W-30 at 1700 miles and stayed with the Honda oil filter. I noticed that the engine ran much smoother and started better when the engine was cold. And the VTEC is still working perfectly, I think the engagement may be a little smoother.

Thanks for the responses everyone. Sounds like there's no adverse effect on VTEC engagement running a synthetic. Very good to know. I think I'll be switching to Mobile 1 at my next oil change. Any idea why Honda doesn't recommend synthetics in the F20C (other than to sell more cars and parts)?

he he he ..... hey Big E, I'm surprised to see you here. You post even less than I do!
I consider it charitable work and bill it as "helping educate colleagues re S2K ownership"

I switched to Amsoil 10W-30 and their filter after 7,500 miles.
The HONDA filters are very high quality, but Amsoil guarantees the engine if you use their filter with their oil. It provides the maximum filtration possible without restricting oil flow (bypass filters are available if you want to keep your oil "clean room" clean).
Amsoil has a few more years of experience with synthetics than Mobil, and I've been running it in my CRX Si for 12 years and 130,000 miles.

Duh, my whole reason for posting all the above was that I've experienced no ill effects on the VTEC, either!
The engine developed a nice tone by the time it was fully broken in, and the switch to synthetic did not upset this. Initially, the new engine (with 7 miles on it) had a harsh whine to it, but this has developed into a throaty growl (relatively) with no residual harshness.
