I am a believer that a 4 cyl must have a single
saying that
mugen header gains 8-10 midrange..basically nothing on top
spoon header gains ??? high rpm

single exit exhausts gain a small amount in high rpm(also some said better throttle response, a little lost low rpm)

So.. after reading numberous dyno's I still cant find the answer im looking for

if you do mugen header and a single exit exhaust...does that mean you will gain the 8-10 midrange, and the 3-5 top end???
or does one counteract the other?

If yes.. what single?? I know amuse.. but to damn much money
im thinking based on money, speed, spoon, J's but does it really matter what single?

Im really hoping the Guys who know can tell me..
PLEASE do not answer Yes, No
Im trying to learn..explain if my theory is correct, or if its wrong why its wrong
and dont flame
I really want/need to know

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP

No, you can't add the power gains of the two parts together like that. However, you will (should) get the best parts of each by combining them - you just won't get a numerically exact hp increase. If you combine a header that gives good midrange hp with an exhaust that boosts high end hp, you'll probably get pretty good midrange hp still (I doubt 8-10, though, since your exhaust is actually restricting a bit) and a slight increase in high end hp. However, I was/am under the impression that a single outlet exhaust would boost LOW end power...so in this case you'd probably get a bit more low end power and a bit of midrange power as well. High end wouldn't change much, in my opinion.

Ultimate Lurker would no doubt answer this better - might be good to ask him.

Header + ECU tuning is much better than header + single exhaust.

Wait for the Hondata ECU to come out, then get the Mugen header, and you will be quite pleased.

header + cat + exhaust is one system in 3 parts. Unfortunately you won't know how the components work in combination without trying them.

If I can afford it..........Header(got already)............definitly going to remove the cat! ...............(DOWN THE ROAD)Hondata ECU or CAMS. Not sure which is going to yield most bang for the buck! Any thoughts?

ps: The header and exhaust bolt onto the stock CAT. I want to take that restriction out of the system and just run a stock exhaust but no cat and headers. Though an aftermaket exhaust would work too. HTH
