Would you say that cracked retainers occur on certain year ap1's or is it just a mixture of hit-and-miss and over-revving?

 

goddamn man, this is nonstop!

 

All 2000-2003 can have cracked retainers from an over-rev. First one I ever found was a 2003.

 

Any pics of your findings? Id like to see what to look for when I set valves again next week.

 

Search around, I have many good pics on what to look for.

 

From another car. The one on the left is cracked bigtime. You should not be able to see the inner wall of the retainer.

Meaning that on non-US cars, with the F20, it may be MY00-07
Is there any concensus on where "over-rev territory" begins?
Anything above redline/rev limiter?
9500 rpm?

The car still drove into the shop.. right?
