Default Car #12 (I think)

I'm pretty sure tonight's car is number 12. Somebody confirm I'm loosing count Found broken retainers during routine valve adjustment. 40k miles, year 2000, 2nd owner. Sent him away with 2.2L retainers on the intake side.

This is 6 or 7 cars in the last 4-6 months.

It is safe to say at least 40 people who read this have broken retainers and don't know it.

Keep in mind this applies to 2000-2003 2.0L cars only.

Back when it was at 3 or 4 cars I though wow. I has become such a common thing I just shake my head.

Replacing intake retainers/keepers, and custom VA, I've got it down to 1hr 45 min start to finish. I could have done this one in 1hr 40 min but stopped to surf the web

Billman250,

You say people might be driving around with broken retainers and not know it. What major issue would you be seeing or having if your retainers are broken? Thanks

AP1 FTMFW!
But in all seriousness, any preventive measures we can take to avoid this mishap other than the obvious of avoiding the money shift?
