Default car handling poorly

the handling on my car has been acting up lately.
When i take my hand off the steering wheel while im driving, the car begins to go off to the right. and when i turn the steering wheel to the left or right and let go of it,it doesn't just return to the center, it wobbles really loosely. it seems to only be getting worse now and its really annoying, especially at higher speed.

I was hoping that i just need an alignment and new tires, but my friend with an s2000 drove it and thinks its something more mechanical.

any ideas for where i should look for the problem would be great

Like everyone else has said, check your tire pressures and lug nuts, then get the car aligned. If there are any "mechanical" problems a good alignment man sould be able to spot them during the alignment procedure.
