I've had that happen at low RPMS like that when accelerating fairly aggressively. It caught me off guard because I knew I was well away from VTEC range, but still I think I just jumped on it too hard and for one reason or another it limited me.

I like that these safety feature exist to counter our stupidity, even if it does give a bit of a shock at the time.

It looks like it coincides with heat bog, sitting in traffic, idling for 15 mins!

How long have you had the air filter? Is the filter dirty?

I ask this because if you recently got it, then you might not be use to heatbog (if it is this, since I have never experienced it either)

Maybe you have had the intake for a while, but it took a dirty filter to cause these symptoms.

If there are no CEL, Reset the ECU.

Don't worry

I've had a 2001 and now a 2003 S2000 and they all act the same. It's the heat soak of the intake system. When the car is idling the intake air is 'sitting' in the hot(!) intake system for a rather long time before it reaches the cylinders and therefore it has a long time to heat up. When you 'suddenly' want to take off, the engine gulps in some much colder ambient air and the engine starts bogging, because the engine controller is running parameters for much hotter air. It takes a few seconds for the ECU to re-adjust for the proper intake air temperature.

Take care!

Thanks for the assistance. So, i dont have too much oil in the system? Ill go out and pick up a new air filter, and re-set the ecu... Ill let you guys know if it happens again. Im sure that the short ram isnt helping matters much, it was on the car when i bought it about 3 1/2 months ago.

If your air filter is clean, then by all means leave it

Siepel explained it perfectly

I have the same problem, it rarely does it but on a hot day or when the car has been sitting on a while is when it is really noticable.

Will an aftermarket T/B and ported IM help cure the heat bog? What else could a person to do elimate the hiccups or bucking. Makes a person look silly, like we don't know how to drive or something. I don't like it too because it makes me think something is wrong with the car when I know its just the heat.

I dont see why a larger TB/IM will help.

Maybe a Hondata IMG will help some, but it's the design/nature of the intake.

Since you have a CAI, the piping between the rad and engine. You could exhaust wrap/insulate it from the hot temps of the engine/rad. That might help as well, since it will take longer to warm up the pipe, which in-turn warm up the air being drawn in at a slow velocity.

I was talking to another member on here who stated it got rid of his heat bog. I just wanted to know what everyone else thought about it.

The idea of wrapping the intake pipe might work, any thoughts about that?

I checked my PM's and it was Shock who told me it practically eliminated all his heat bog with aftermarket T/B and ported IM.

Changed the air filter.. kinda feel like an idiot seeing it was worse than i thought when i compared the old one to a new one. But i still have one question. How often do you guys recommend you change spark plugs/diff fluid/tranny fluid? i bought the car with 32,xxx miles on it, and i have since put another 8k miles (im at 40,800 atm)on it. All ive done is change the oil, and going under the assumption the previous owner didnt do any of the above maintainance items, or they were done on a regular maintainance schedual, when should i look into changing these?
