I have a MY00 with basic mods as intake, header, exhaust. im about to hit 58,000 miles. anyways, lately, when i shift into second, the car like jerks back and fourth. and then when i shift into third, itll go in notchy but the car sounds like it downshifted from third to second. anyone know what im talkin about. thanks. it wont shift smoothly even when warmed up 3 bars and driven around for a few miles.

Can I assume that when you re-apply the gas after a shift, that you go fairly heavy on throttle? It "may" be possible that shifting at those engine speeds and then applying heavy throttle is getting you too close to "lugging" the engine. You may be asking it to do more work than it is ready for at those rpm's. Either try to go a bit higher - like 4000 rpm or more before shifting. OR, give it less gas after the shift. OR, you may be letting the clutch go too abruptly and not in sync with your throttle re-application. This will also produce a very jerly motion.
Now, if it still does it when you apply these suggestions, then something may not be right. Next questions I would ask you is: Are you using good fuel? Brand name? 90 something octane?

The notchiness is pretty universal, most of the S2000s that I've driven have this feature. The "sound like it downshifted" may be your clutch slipping. When you depress the accelerator does the engine RPM increase with no forward acceleration? If so, it may be time to drop the tranny .

I shift my Accord at higher revs than that. You are barely moving before you shift. I've got to believe you are lugging the engine.
