Default Car randomly wont start

Ok i just purchased my s2k and started having a problem where i get inside the car, put the key into the ignition, turn the key to the on position and push the engine start button and it will just crank but never turn on... it randomly does that sometimes, i believe only once its warmed up and the only way i can get the car actually on, is to apply some gas while pushing the engine start and holding the rev at about 1.5k for about a minute or so, thereafter it will drive and idle fine with no issues.. And whats strange about this is that it does this RANDOMLY....it'll do this maybe 2 out of 10 startups..? Most times it will startup just fine with no problems and theres no CEL and no green key light (that stays on) when i insert the key into the ignition, any help with this would be greatly appreciated and i thanks you guys in advance...!!!

could this be a sensor issue or possibly even something to do with gas...?

Mine does that. Probably a sign your battery is getting weak. If it doesn't crank, take the key back out (don't continue to turn it over or press the gas, etc.) Wait 5 sec and try again. Fires up every time.

I appreciate your quick response..!!!

Hmm, even though i can power on my headlights, radio and all other electronics just fine..? I will certainly check my battery later today to see if thats the culprit (i hope its that easy) but we will see...

I have attempted several times to start the car with waiting 15-20sec intervals w/ no luck, the car will just crank but not actually turn on.. Only way i could get it on *once its acting up like this is to apply some gas and let it warm it for a bit..

symptoms are strange and got me boggled...

Hmmm. I had that same problem when I first bought my car almost 4 years ago. About a month or two later after the date of purchase, I started to experience that problem. I was about to have a nervous breakdown. But then again, I had kept my cool cause I can always take it back to the dealer and tell them that's broke and want another car.

Anyhow, long story short. I found out that indeed it was the battery causing the problem. How did I find out? I took it to the nearest Autozone and had them test my battery and alternator. When they pin pointed the electrical problem, I went inside and bought a brand new battery. Problem solved and the issue never came up again and it's been almost 4 years now. So if I were you I'd take it to Autozone and have them check up on your alternator and battery. They'll test it for free unless that has changed. Hope this helps.

Hmmm, Engine flooded?? Holding gas and cranking engine sometimes will resolve a flooded engine problem and have symptoms like you experience. For some reason my 91 CRX was prone to this, but I have not experienced it in my S2000
