Default Did my immobilizer kick in while driving???

So currently my car has not been able to start, it cranks but no start. This all happened one evening when i was on my way to a spirited drive through a canyon when all of the sudden my engine felt like it was misfiring, and losing power, depressing the gas pedal would do nothing and the engine came down to an idle and gave up. So i pulled over, waited a bit and tried to start it up again, and it did start back up but was only able to drive 100 feet or so more until the same thing happened again. Needless to say i towed it home and the car has been sitting for the past month, i am now in the process of fixing it and came to the realization that the green key light remains blinking while the key is in the ignition. So my question is could it be possible that the immobilizer kicked in mid drive? i find it hard to believe since the immobilizer already accepted the key to begin with otherwise the car wouldn't start in the first place

Some background information:
  • The car is MY06 AP2
  • The current key i am using is not the original but a copy i had made about 2 years ago
  • I've been in the habit of disconnecting the battery terminals after driving
  • Mods are a flash pro base map
Thanks in advance for your feedback, I'm knocking my head over this D;

if that's the case than there has to be another issue that caused my engine to die and the immobilizer not reading the key must be a different issue that happened while it was sitting. This is really unfortunate as i was hoping i would just get another key and everything would be all fine but now i have to find the other issue

And i cant for the life of me figure out what it is. i have replaced the spark plugs, alternator and battery. i Checked the ignition coil and the harness that gives them power with a multimeter. i can hear the fuel pump prime evertime. everything seems fine. i guess the next step is to check for compression

Need a scanner....not just a code reader and go through diagnostic procedures. Go after only one problem and it will probably lead you to other problem..... most likely.

Just because fuel pump is priming doesn't mean fuel is getting to engine, or the right amount of fuel is being injected.

An engine needs fuel, air, and spark. In the right amount, at the right time. So it has to be one of those.

My favorite troubleshooting tools for a situation like this is a can of starting fluid. Spray a good stream into throttle body, then try to start.

If it starts, then problem is fuel. If it doesn't, its spark.

For spark, old school method was to take a spare plug, connect plug wire to it, lay plug so its touching metal, then crank. You'd be able to visually verify there is spark, and how healthy it was. Of course, it didn't tell you if timing was good.

I don't know if it possible to remove a coilpack, and perform a similar test with the S.

It also takes compression.

Compression test is a good starting point.

Which basemap are you using? I recommend flashing back to stock tune and eliminate that possibility before continuing diagnosis/troubleshooting. You're not gaining anything significant on zero mods anyway.
