Cluster does not turn on in ANY key position...

I wonder if your alarm has anything to do with it

, it could be the aftermarket alarm.

I had the same problem on a different car. The battery, starter and ignition switch all checked out good. Turns out, the starter kill relay on my aftermarket alarm was failing and preventing the car from starting. Try pulling the Clifford unit and see if you can start the car without it.

Under the dash is a fuse box with 2 rows of fuse. Fifth fuse up on the left side is a 7.5 amp ignition fuse that works the dash, ignition and convertible top. Make sure the fuse is still good. If it is you need to make sure it gets power when you have the key in the on position. If you are not getting power then you probably have a bad ignition switch.

Thanks, I checked that fuse but I'll check it again just to make sure. How would I test to see the fuse is getting power?

IIRC we checked that. It looked good but forgot to "swap" it w/ another fuse. I've had fuses look good before and blown.

How easy to check ign switch?

BTW I'm helping tekstar diagnose his car

You can check to see if the fuse is getting power with a test light or a multimeter. On the end of the fuse next to the 7.5 lettering you will see two small areas where you can touch metal with a multimeter probe.
Touch one multimeter probe to the fuse and the other to a good electrical ground on the car. If the ignition switch is good then you will have power at the fuse when the switch is in the on position.
