Default carbon fiber weight reduction.

O.K. Here is what I am thinkin.

Looks like there is a couple spots of carbon fiber front bumper, both front fenders, hood, and then like the VIS trunk. Anyone have a guess of the reduction in weight I could end up with.

The total cost of these parts is going to be around $2400 and I am wondering if it is worth it to me. If I could shave another 50 pounds I think I would do it. I am at 2700 driving weight now with full tank of gas without me.

Thanks
To whoever has a good guess.

You are probably not going to be happy with the total weight savings after all that...Most of the stuff you have listed are going to weigh nearly the same as the stock parts...

0lbs to +5lbs. All the stuff you're talking about is WET CF....this will have no advantage over the light aluminum already used on the car. To create real weight savings you'll need dry CF this will run you 10K+ and save you maybe 10lbs. CF with this car is not an effective way to reduce weight.

Places to look to reduce weight on the car would be exhaust, wheels, brakes, seats, spare tire, etc...

If you want to shave off 50 lbs. you need to get the replacement pieces made with two layers of prepreg carbon and a honeycomb core mat. Fyi the honeycomb core is about $95/yard. For all of those pieces you're looking at $6000 easy.

You sure you wanna go all carbon fiber on those parts that you're talking about, if you like the carbon fiber look then go ahead but to me it make the car look weird. To each his/her own I guess, it's your money dude... How about dropping the safety bar as well if you're gonna drop everything else...

the only CF parts that would make difference are:

CF HT, provided you gut the softop
CF doors, provided you can afford it

You can go with a carbon fiber chasis, that'll help out big time... Jk... How about safety issues dude? Carbon fibers are tyte but I hope you only use your S at the track and not street cause if something happens then it'll be too late, your money and your life I guess...

You'd be surprised at how strong some forms of c/f are. It also absorbs energy very well.
