Default Carpet Wet

My carpet is wet on the passenger side. It never happens unless it is raining. It never happens when I am just running the AC and it isn't raining. It doesn't get wet when I'm driving through high water. It only happens when it water comes from the top of the car.

When I put a hose on the wind shield, the water comes down the firewall on the inside of the car. I can't feel high enough to tell where it is coming from on the inside.

I pulled the wipers and the cover off of the top of cowl. I found a filter I didn't know existed. There is a gasket around the cover. I thinking the gasket could be leaking. I don't know if that is the problem and why it all of a sudden started leaking.

Does anyone have any experience with this problem?

Thanks!

It's more likely to be coming in through the windshield molding than the cowl. Put some car wash soapy bubbles on the molding then use compressed air from the inside of the windshield to pinpoint the location.

Thanks for the tip. I tried that and it doesn't seem to be the windshield. Why would the windshield suddenly start leaking? Maybe it is leaking there but I couldn't see the bubbles?

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!

good chance it's coming in around the A/C air filter under the cowl cover. the filter you said you didn't know you had is the one i am talking about. the air filter has a foam gasket and maybe it's dry rotted enough to leak. buy a new filter and see if that solves your issue.
