Default Cat Gaskets

Hey guys, I got the 6-7 blinking CEL, so I figured the Cat is finished.

I got another cat from "dnice" here on the forum (thx by the way).

I plan on removing mine, and replacing it with the one I bought, so I bought a new gasket(that goes between the cat and the exhaust) from the dealer, but I totally forgot to order the gasket that goes between the header and the Cat!! Can I just re-use the one that's already on the car?? Or do I absolutely need to buy a new gasket that boes between the header and the cat??

Thx

Nick

You're talking about the donut gasket.
Its made of some carbon/fibreglass composit (that is what it looks like anyway) and it allows for some movement between the exhaust header and the cat & rest of the exhaust.
This is also why there are spring loaded bolts between the cat & header.
The donut gasket is not a "you-have-to-replace-it-everytime" gasket but you won't know its condition before removing the cat.
It can deteriorate a bit over time.

I'm guessing this is not the answer you're looking for

Btw.. how do you figure the cat is gone?
Do you know the actual CEL code?

P0402 = Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Excessive Detected
As far as I know the S2000 doesn't have an exhaust gas recirculation system.

P0420 = Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)

Do you have this one?

Yep, reuse the donut gasket... I've taken off and reinstall my exhaust numberous of times without having to replace that gasket.
