Default Cat Heatshield ratting with test pipe

Well I got my T1R test pipe installed the other day with the stock heatshield over it. As people have warned me, the heatshield does rattle at certain RPMs. I already took care of some of the rattle by tightening up the 02 sensor and boring out the 02 sensor hole on the heatshield (it was touching it before), but it still rattles a little bit.

I'm trying to find some kind of product that I could wedge in between the 2 heatshield peices to try and stop the rattleing. I was thinking some heat resistant foam (but that is almost an oxymoron). Maybe some heat resistant rubber or something. The best would be like asbestos (sp) but I don't think I could purchase that. I'm not sure how hot the actual instide of the heatshield gets but it is no where near as hot as the cat used to get. Any ideas?

I looked that stuff up and I might try it but before I do, any other ideas on something less permanent then sealing silicone.

Header blanket or header wrap, but you probably can't buy small quantity.

The RTV peels off pretty easily when you want to remove it. Its hardly permanent.

large diameter hose clamps. clamp those heat sheilds together.
if you have a test pipe why do you even need the heat sheild? cats have heat sheilds because they need to be at very high temps to work properly/eficiently.

I think he's talking about the heat shield under the car, not the thing covering the CAT.

The heatshields around the cat keep the testpipe looking stock and like a cat to the untrained eye.

Yes that is what I am talking about. I'm kind of paranoid and want to have anything I can get that would lessen the chance of getting caught.

When I was installing it, my dad came under the car to see what I was doing and asked me why I was I was screwing new bolts into the heatshield...he had no idea it was a test pipe

For the record, he does know now but it did pass the visual test. Now smell...thats a different story

The heatshield on my t1r test pipe really started rattling. Took it off, and found that two of the tabs had broken off. Just fyi.
