Default CEL on after oil change

Hi guys,

my car CEL turn on this morning and i wonder what can that be, here's the detail:

- Comtech replacement filter was put on last year, no CEL
- spugen exhaust was put on the car 2 months ago, no CEL
- Oil change last weekend and i haven't drove the car till now, CEL

What can this be?

Thank you

Bryan

I'll tell you what everybody else will tell you, Check the gas cap for tightness and Pull the code. Because if it's not the gas cap it could be ANYTHING.

exactly what he said. be sure your gas cap is tight. then head over to an auto zone or something. most places like that will have a tool you can borrow for free to check the code.

Also check the plug next to the manifold this is sometimes removed to make oil changes easier (more so removing the filter)

This is a grey clip in plug, just a possibility. Ive never started my car without this plugged in so cant say whether it would throw a CEL or not.

And you are quite sure it is a CEL (check engine light) and not a MIL (maintenance indicator light), right? Sorry, people do it all the time.

You might also want to check the oil dipstick to make sure it's in tight and the oil cap on the top of the engine. If the cap is loose, your car may be detecting an issue from that as well.

This happened to a friend of mine after his oil was changed.

A CEL will have a code number associated with the problem(issue). What is the code number?
