before i added the oil it was on the X right above the L. when i filled it up with 1qt it went up 2 X's which is about the middle.
You are without a doubt reading the dipstick wrong. You were likely not on the first X when you first checked it, because you did not read both sides of the stick.

Its not blinking is it? If it is have it towed to a dealer, don't drive it.

We're really not trying to give you a hard time, but too many people come in here and say "I got a cel and cleared it, whats wrong?" After its cleared, you're hosed. It removes the code and the next time it comes on may be the last ...

ok, just got back from autozone and they got these codes

P0303 - misfire cyl 3
P01399 - glow plug circuit, high side, high input

this is what he wrote down on a piece of paper for me and he told me that all i had to do was replace the spark plugs or spark plug wires. is that right?

also, what are some good spark plugs for the s2000?

I'm sure he meant P0139 (not 01399). This would be the O2 sensor in the cat (slow response). Might need a new O2 sensor. Would have to do more checks.

A misfire code can be something really simple to something really difficult to fix. It can be anything from a bad spark plug to a bad coilpack to a bad connection at the coilpack or bad valve adjustment. (We don't have spark plug wires.) It could also mean bad fuel pressure, bad fuel injector or even a bad ECU. The diagnosis for this can be complicated. Begin with new plugs (OEM ones are good and gap them correctly). Switch the coilpacks around, reset the ECU and see what happens. If the code comes back, you're going to need professional help.

Isn't P1399 temporary random mis-fire? I thought that was the same on CThree's getting on his messed up motor?

Yeah I just checked, that's it.

Well OP, you've got something wrong with Cylinder #3 after running your engine low on oil. Hopefully it's something simple and relatively cheap like XViper mentioned.

This is where it's confusing. P1399 is a misfire on all cylinders. What threw me is the "glow plug" remark and the P01399. Do you throw out the "0" or the "9"?

my mistake, it is P1399. after i get new spark plugs and and switch the coilpacks, is it necessary to reset the ECU? or should the cel go off automatically?

im hoping i only have to get new spark plugs.

Yes, protocol says to reset it. If it comes back, get the code again and the next level must be taken.
