I am rebuilding a 2008 Honda S2000 that was crashed from the front. When I got the car, the coolant was empty and the oil was leaking. The whole front was pretty smashed up.
I switched out the oil pan, filled the coolant, had the frame fixed, put a new front bumper / fenders and the car was ready for road action. Before I can register it, I need to make sure it passes emissions. I am currently getting a CEL when I run my OBD scanner. 1 Pending, 1 Fault - P2185
I looked up a few threads on the S2k forums but there were no resolutions for it. I looked at other Honda's and it looks to be a Coolant Temperature Sensor. I'm going to flush the coolant, since I didn't before, and may possibly see if Honda or Autozone have the sensor.
I already reset the ECU by pulling the "Spare" fuse, from the fuse box, for a minute and the light came back on.
So I did a coolant flush and bought new sensors. Before I disconnected the sensor, I noticed the wires looked weird on the connector. Turns out it must have been broken off. This is how the wires looked.
Could this be causing a CEL? Or would it still work fine even without a connector?
Also, when installing an engine temp gauge, which wires do you tap into? I wonder if they had one and either tapped into a wire improperly or just cut it and soldered their wire.
