Default CEL Primary O2 sensor question

Long story short, my car tossed a CEL a few weeks ago, I brought it a shop to run the code, cam back as the Primary O2 sensor. I drove the car 4-5 times after and the CEL stayed on.

I plunked down 300$ for a new O2 sensor.

The DAY its delivered i drive the car and notice the CEL went off.

My question to you guys is, Should i try to return the O2 sensor, or is it still worth installing it? Or do i keep it on hand for when it finally does crap out?

I have a 2007 model. It kept flashing CEL P1172. Reset it. CEL would pop out in a few miles. Got more frequent.

Yes, the replacing the front air/fuel mixture sensor on exhaust solved the problem. No more P1172!

Lazy O2 sensor, sometimes works sometimes doesn't. It'll also cause evap codes because the engine gets flooded with gasoline.

They get old, perform inconsistently. Replace.

Return it! You way overpaid. This is the OEM Denso part from Amazon for $95. Then go ahead and replace it https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
