Default chainsaw sound

Hearing a chainsaw sound both in gear and idle usually when going through around 5k rpm but sometimes also around 3-4k rpm. Dealer replaced heat shields but didn't eliminate noise.

When I was in the process of trying to find a good condition AP1, I test drove one that exhibited this exact same noise around those same conditions. From what I could tell and already knew about the car, a slipping TCT was the first thing that popped in my mind.

I bought a different ap1. heh.

Good luck.

"T"iming "C"hain "T"ensioner

This is a fairly common issue with the F series motors and there are a few methods to address, one is a salvage/rework of the existing tensioner the other is replacement with a new one. A search of the forum for TCT should yield the thread(s) that cover this.

Problem turned out to be simple, thankfully - one of the exhaust caps wasn't tight enough and was causing the vibration at certain rpms. Thanks for your help though.
