Default Changed transmission fluid, replace washers?

I just changed my transmission and differential fluid this past weekend and I just noticed today the DIY guides say to replace the washers for the drain and fill bolts. Is this absolutely necessary? Will fluid leak from it unless you do this? I can always order them from hardtopguy.com but I just wanted to get input from you guys before I redo the whole thing again if nothing bad's going to happen.

Thanks.

You should be fine. Just take a look for leaks once and a while were you park the car.

Check the plug areas, if it's dry your good to go. I would change the washers, it's cheap insurance of a proper seal. Check with some of our sponsors, the washers are cheap so buy several.

It is not going to kill you, in a pinch I flip them over and reuse them just once. But for a couple of cents, just replace them next time.

Fwiw I typically change the washer every third change. No leaks yet with this rotation.

I think I MIGHT have changed my crush washer once on my Integra in 100k miles and never had a problem. I doubt anyone has suffered crush-washer-fail. Most do not change them.

I wouldn't worry about it. I tried to find the washers, and my dealer was out of stock. Makes you wonder how they do a "proper" change of fluids there huh?
