Default Changing all fluids in the S2K - Which fluids for what part?

Spring is in the air and I'm going to get all the fluids changed out in the S2K. I will be bringing the car to a Honda dealer for this but will be supplying some of my own fluids. This is where I need help. I have done about 3 days worth of research and so far settled on the following:

Engine - AMSOIL 10-W30
Tranny - Honda dealer stuff
Air Intake - Stock Honda Brand

Rear Diff - I'm so friggin' confused. The more I research on here the more different choices I get. I figured I'd use AMSOIL but have no idea what viscosity. Some say 75-W90 others say 75-W110 others say neither. Any help on this at all would be greatly appreciated.

As far as Brake and clutch fluids. I didn't do much research on this as I figured I might just use whatever the Honda dealer uses. Unless you guys have better suggestions?

Thanks guys for any help,
Dave

Engine- Amsoil 10w30 is fine.
Trans- OEM Honda MTF
Diff- Amsoil 75w90 or 75w110 is fine either way from my knowledge. Or even Mobil 75w90. I've ran both. Someone else can chime in and give you some scientific reasons on either one. Be sure you don't let Honda change your diff fluid
Brake/Clutch- OEM Honda.

I say your good to go.

Why don't let Honda change the diff fluid? Cost reasons or other?

the honda dealer might use CRV fluid, which is the wrong fluid

go with fluid that you can easily find if it needs to be replaced.

I just use redline fluid, 10w30 for the engine, MT90 for the transmission and 75w90 for the Differential, as well as ATE superblue for the brakes and clutch

I would be bringing the differential fluid to the Honda dealer. I heard of Honda dealers putting CRV fluid in there and that's the only reason I'm buying my own.

"Anyway back on topic... The S manual reads to "Use SAE 90 Hypoid Gear Oil Class GL5 or GL6 ONLY". How does 75w90 or 75w110 compare to their recommended SAE 90 GL5/6?

Thanks again guys,
Dave

Diff fluid is very easy to change yourself

Apparently so is changing the engine oil. However, I'm just not there yet.

Anybody else on the 75w90 vs 75w110 and how it fits with the Honda recommended SAE 90?

Thanks,
Dave

I was in the same boat as you when I bought my S.

I read a lot of people's opinions and it seemed like there were a lot of options but no solid answers

Then I thought outside the box and figured I would just use what Billman recommends with his S2000 services.

To quote directly from his thread -

oil change Mobil1 & PCX filter, or ck oil and fliter torque
dif fluid change with Mobil1 75W90
trans fluid change with NEW Honda MTF
clutch fluid change, clutch adjust, and throttle adjust
brake fluid change with ATE Super Blue

Just use what Billman recommends, he knows more about this car than anyone.

I have been using the above fluids with no problems, although the reality is that most of the other fluids you probably read about work also, but this process makes it easy.

To get all of this done how much would it run you from the dealer?

Exactly.^^^^^ Searched and read the Billman thread...

Except Mobil 1 burns, so I moved to Castrol your experience may vary.

Made all these fluid changes for the track day at Thunder Hill this past weekend.

ATE blue brake fluid.
Honda MT tranny fluid.
Mobil 1 75w 90 diff fluid
Oem honda oil filter
Syntec Castrol 10w 30

I'll try a new tranny fluid in 5 or 10 k miles.
