wait... fog from the vents is not a good thing? i been getting fog on a constant basis now. i don't know why.. it just started a few months ago. probably every 10-15 minutes.. i would get it... i just thought it looked cool, and didn't think twice about it. I pretty much said it was because it has been very humid down here....

The "Fog out of your vents" is normal if it is humid. It is not really coming out of your vents; the cold air is hitting the very moist air in your car and condensing it. It is just like opening a refrigerator on a hot day and watching the "fog" coming out or get a cold glass of water with lots of ice and watch "fog" roll off the sides on a warm humid day.

I live in Houston and this is a common phenomenon, needless to say I won't describe the weather for you.

I changed mine at 9k, and it was already quite grey compared to the new one.

Usually, the fog, and moist smell, is due to the drain tube, or where it connects to the duct, being either pinched or blocked.

The musty smell is from mold.

I wonder about these filters - once contaminated, they are exposing you consistently and regularly to levels of bacteria and mold spores that you would never encounter with just a straight through system. And I think it is kind of odd to have them on a 'vert in the first place.

Think about it - you have a contained system with little ventilation at rest that sits in darkness - hell, you could grow mushrooms in there!

Note to self: Remove the filter, or replace it OFTEN. I am leaning towards pulling it and never replacing it. For the conspiracy folks among us, this is clearly another "they did it for the money" maintenance $$ grab.

Usually fresh air. Only when I'm behind some ass who can't properly maintain their ride do I set it to recirculate (or VTEC the hell away from them).
