The diff could be done without jacking up the car if you can fit in the tight space. Probably easy enough to remove the bolts and let the fluid drain, but probably a little harder when putting the new fluid in.

Experiment and see what you can do.

I use Rhino ramps ( dark grey).

To change Engine Oil & Trans Fluid:Front wheels on ramps, chock wheels & ebrake.

To Change Diff Fluid:Rear wheels on ramps, chock wheels & ebrake.

Make note that the drain plug and fill plug are two different sizes, so don't use the same tool on the fill plug as you do on the drain plug as it will strip the head. Always open the fill plug first, and the drain plug second. You can use a ratchet and socket on the drain plug, and a large box-end wrench on the fill plug. I have yet to figure out how to get any other tool onto the fill plug, there is so little space up there. I use a pump to fill the diff.sump , takes less than one quart, fill it up until it starts running out of the fill hole.

I believe the drain plug is 24mm and the fill plug is 23mm. The good thing is that a 23mm box end wrench is usually pretty long and it can give you some good torque to crack open the fill plug easily. Then just snug it tight, don't go crazy on it , I can't figure out a way to tighten it with a torque wrench so I just snug it down. Use a new crush washer where possible.

no, the drain plug is 22mm and the fill plug is 23mm

How do i know? My 22mm socket fit the drain plug but my 22mm box wrench didn't fit the fill plug.

I couldn't find a 23mm for sale... i had to use a 15/16th which worked... but was not the proper size.

either way you want the car level when you are filling the differential if you are trying to get the proper fill level.

Hmm, I didn't realise we were talking about the diff. Either the title has been changed or I shouldn't post so late at night.

Don't feel too bad. From the initial post:

Just wondering if it is possible to change the diff oil with jacks or jack stands.
I was going to reply "Sure".
