Changing Primary O2 Sensor on Header: How-To Help?

Honda wire retainer clips come off easily with needlenose pliers, you have to pinch them on the backside. Unfortunately the ones on the O2 sensor are so wound up on top of the trans that you usually have to bend the metal tabs slightly and use a super-long flathead to compress them. IIRC the shop manual procedure is to remove the bolts that hold the metal tabs on and take them off that way.
just tried to remove my primary O2 sensor to test for a bad cat. was able to get the clip undone, even though it was a major PIA, but the sensor seems rusted on. any ideas on how to remove it? I had a fairly lenghthy crescent wrench on it and went to wacking away with a hammer but no luck. any tips and tricks welcomed!

I was wondering if it could be accessed from the top (remove the shift bezel or something) it’s in such a precarious spot! There no way I’m getting my meat hooks in there.
ill try loosening the bolts. Thought this would be a 10 min job

Bought a cheap $30 o2 sensor to see if it would fix my afr
Clearly different from the oem, although, I’m not certain these are the OE sensors.
If the new upstream sensor doesn’t fix my Rick fuel ratio, not sure where to go next.
