Default Check Engine Light

Hello all,

I was wondering if there is anything I could do to fix this...we took a look at everything and could not find out why the CEL keeps popping up . Is there something I need to reset? I unhooked the battery ... but same thing happens. I did a use the search tool here...but nothing came up that helped me. Any advice at this point would help.

Thanks in advance.

If the car is drivable and an auto parts place is near you, take the car to Kragen/ Auto Zone and have them pull the code. Unless you know someone with a reader who can do it at your place.

P.S. Did you do anything with the cat? If the O2 sensor is not hooked up correctly, that will throw a CEL.

NO!! Do not drive it if it is blinking. I do not know exactly what that means, but I know it's bad. Contact xviper immediately.

No its not blinking or anything. it just stays on.

The O2 sensor I am referring to is attached to the cat. If you didn't mess with the cat, then it should be fine.

First, the most common (and the most foolish) question someone can ask is "i have a CEL, what do I need to reset to make it go away?" Now I'm not directly directing (eh?) this at you, per se, but you should take a step back and realize what you're saying.

Your CEL comes on for a reason. It's not a "reminder" light that you're supposed to "reset" something just cuz you installed something on the car. The CEL comes on when there is something WRONG with the car!!

That said, since you didn't mess with your cat (it's still possible you could have jostled loose the O2 sensor) there's something else going on. No one here can give you any answer, and the forum's search function will be useless. We need the CODE pulled and posted here in order for us to help you. Since you're going to get the code pulled, come back here and post it and then we'll be able to give you answers.

According to the software I received with my code reader, your code means:
O2 sensor heater circuit malfunction. Bank 1 sensor 2.

My guess (and it is only a guess) is the o2 sensor got knocked during the install of the exhaust. I think the 2nd sensor is the one in the cat. Try taking it out and reinstalling it or replacing it and see if the CEL goes out.
