Check Engine Light After Oil Change
Hey Guys,
I changed my oil today. To take out the filter, I unplugged (what I believe is) the VTEC Solenoid to make room for my hand to pull the filter out from the top.
I changed my oil as usual. When I started my car, I noticed my check engine light was on... Checked my engine and realized I forgot to plug in the VTEC Solenoid!
Now Im not sure if it did anything bad, as the car still runs like it did before. However, I feel like it may be making a ticking noise like if the TCT was going out. This ticking noise makes sense because the plug is right next to the TCT, so Im wondering if the plug has anything to do with the TCT. Im afraid to drive my car now, so hopefully someone can help! Maybe Im just making myself think there is a ticking noise because the plug was next to the TCT and Im honing in on that area too much. I replaced my TCT a month ago, so I know it was perfect before.

Yes, thats the Vtec plug. I also remove mine to make room to remove filter.
No, its in no way way related to tct.
You arent the first to start car with this connector removed. I even drove my car with it unplugged to test something once. No ill effects.
I suspect you are just being hyper sensitive to noises since you are concerned something happened. These cars are more noisy than most.
When was last time you did a valve adjustment? That can cause more noise than normal. Of course, its also unrelated to tct or vtec. But maybe that noise was there for a while and only now are you noticing. Or maybe your engine is normal, and you are just being paranoid.

Thanks for the reply. I think I was hyper sensitive to noises. I replugged it in and unplugged the battery to reset the car. The check engine light went out and all of a sudden the car sounded normal lol. I think me and the car are back to normal
