Drive to Autozone and have them pull the code. They do it for free.

Buy an ODB logger. The S loves tossing codes so it might be a worthwhile investment. Perhaps a misfire was detected in cylinder number 5.

For a few bucks more, you could have bought your own code reader.

I just noticed you are in Canada.
Canadian Tire sells them for $150.00 when on sale. Just keep checking their online pricing. They go on sale every few months.

Oh look, they're on sale again:

With my Integra you could jump the plug for the scantool by putting a piece of wire in both holes of the plug then turn the key to on and the CEL would blink in a series of flashes which related to codes...I have not seen the plug for the scantool on the S yet (new owner) but I was wondering if we have something similar?

Yes, we do. The data port is located under the dash. It can be on either the passenger side of the driver side depending upon the year of the car. You can do the wire "jump" to get the codes. Modify (a forum member) had a chart posted up on his website with all the "blink codes" but his site is down now.

I just did the jumper trick on my girlfriends 02 Civic EX. I have a OBDII scan tool, however they can't pull SRS, ABS, EPS (no EPS on the Civic of course) etc. The jumper trick seems to display all of the above. For example I was pulling SRS DTC but because a pending DTC (one instance, not enough to trip the MIL ON) was stored for the fuel emissions stuff both the Check Engine Light and SRS light began to blink out DTC's. So the jumper trick will display pending DTC's for the fuel emissions as well as as DTC's for SRS, ABS, EPS, ATTS (97 Prelude SH), etc. Anyway the instructions I followed were for an RSX K20. This is the link http://www.k-series.com/tech_detail.php?Tech_ID=CEL . I can say for sure it is shorting PIN 4 to PIN 9 on an 02 Civic EX. I haven't tried it on my S. Good Luck.
